Elizabeth Parkes


Elizabeth Parkes is a recent graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, she holds a Bachelor of Music in Education as well as New York State initial music teacher certification. While at Crane, she performed Verdi’s Requiem with the Crane Chorus and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Anne Howard Jones in Lincoln Center. Also with these ensembles, she performed Bach’s B Minor Mass under the baton of Helmuth Rilling, and Britten’s War Requiem under Kristoff Herrick. She also studied voice with David Pittman-Jennings and bassoon with Dr. Carol Lowe. Elizabeth also conducted an independent research project on teacher vocal health culminating in a presentation to nation-wide college professors at the Mountain Lake Colloquium for teachers of general music methods. She also taught general music to students in Jamaica for ten days through the Jamaica Field Service Project. Elizabeth tutored music history for college students and volunteered at a North Country school helping a fifth grade class with literacy.

Elizabeth currently performs with the Buffalo Master Chorale. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music, and Omicron Delta Kappa a national leadership honors society.
