Classes taught by music educator, Kristen Smith. (See Bio Below)

Today, it is more common for us to be music consumers than it is for us to be music makers. But young children learn best through active exploration and live, meaningful interaction with the grownups they love. Neuroscientists, psychologists, and early childhood development experts agree. Actively making music not only brings children joy, it promotes early literacy, language development, social-emotional skills, physical skills, cognitive skills, music skills, self-esteem, and creativity. MINI MUSIC MAKERS is designed for your child to learn, interact, have fun, and bond with you through music. Our goal is to actively involve and engage students and have them look forward to MINI MUSIC MAKERS each week.

KRISTEN SMITH

After 8 years in Boston, MA, Kristen is thrilled to be back in Buffalo and excited to share her love of music with our youngest students. As a mom of an almost 2-year-old, and a music educator, she’s seen firsthand how important early music instruction and exposure can be. Kristen received her music education degree from SUNY Fredonia and then went on to complete a Master’s in Voice Performance from the New England Conservatory. After teaching Middle School Chorus and General Music in both Massachusetts and Texas, she now spends most of her time with her busy toddler. Kristen is the Associate Director of the Chamber Choir for the Buffalo Niagara Youth Chorus and leads Kids Worship at Life Church Buffalo along with her countertenor husband. They just bought their first home in Hamburg and are ready to finally put down roots. Kristen is eager to make music with our youngest musicians!
