Dr. Madeline Harts is a singing teacher, vocal coach, and music educator originally from East Aurora, NY. A soprano and pianist, Madeline has appeared as an artist for the John Duffy Institute of New Opera, Resident Artist with the Toledo Opera Company, and performed in operas and recitals domestically and internationally. Recent engagements include Vivaldi’s Gloria and Handel’s Messiah with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus and Bach’s Ein feste Burg with the WNY Chamber Orchestra. Other notable performances include The Light in the Piazza (Margaret Johnson), The Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), and an American musical theater “The Great White Way” recital at the Salzburgfestspiele in Salzburg, Austria.

 

A dedicated teacher, Madeline welcomes singers of all voice types and skill levels to her studios. Students go on to pursue singing in a variety of ways, from performance to music therapy and education or personal enjoyment. Madeline is also a voice habilitationist, dedicated to helping singers recover their singing voices after hiatus due to trauma, injury, or illness and is a standing member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA). She currently teaches voice and related coursework at the State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music, Niagara University, and her own private studio.

Madeline is a doctoral graduate of the University of Miami Frost School of Music in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance (DMA) and holds degrees in Voice Performance from Bowling Green State University (MM) and Voice Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College (BM). In addition to her degrees, Madeline has completed credits from the Shenandoah Conservatory The New CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute, and a Vocal Pedagogy Internship with the University of Miami Frost School of Music and UHealth Hospital, including observation hours with licensed speech-language pathologists and otolaryngologists. Research interests include voice habilitation/vocology, vocal pedagogy, and women in music.
