With broad vocal and acting skills ranging from musicals to opera, Leah (Schneider) Wietig has gained a reputation as a gifted and versatile performer throughout the Western New York cultural community and beyond. Ms. Wietig made her solo debut in 2007 singing with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in Hansel and Gretel and has returned to the BPO as a guest soloist for various engagements including the concert; Poulenc to Puccini conducted by Doreen Rao and excerpts from the opera, Faust at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. In the summer of 2011, Ms. Wietig performed with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra singing the soprano solo in Bach’s Magnificat paired with Bernstein’s Mass. She returned to the Chautauqua Symphony in 2015 as the Soprano soloist in a staged production series of Orff’s Carmina Burana. She performs regularly with the BPO as a soloist/narrator for their education program including performances of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Ms. Wietig has remained their featured educational performing artist for over twelve seasons and has worked with Matthew Kraemer, Stefan Sanders and current assistant conductor Todd Craven and Jaman Dunn. These educational shows are all tailored to three different age groups. Ms. Wietig has also performed as a soloist with the Erie Chamber Orchestra and the Butler County Symphony Orchestra.
In Buffalo, Ms. Wietig has performed with O’Connell and Company, Alleyway Theater, in the world premiere of the original musical, Italian Serenade and Opera Sacra in their production of Suor Angelica. Along with performing she has competed in various singing competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and Rochester’s Classical Idol. Along with performing regularly she teaches and manages her private voice studio, Main Stage Studios with locations in East Aurora and Buffalo, NY. Main Stage Studios offers private, customized lessons in voice, acting, piano and guitar. Ms. Wietig has taught for Camp Broadway, The Academy of Theatre Arts, Arts in Education Institute, Nardin Academy, Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart and Shea’s Performing Arts Center. She serves as Director of the non-profit Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in Buffalo/Toronto. She is also an adjunct professor of Voice at Niagara University.
Leah Wietig focuses her voice lessons on improving each student’s vocal health ensuring the student a lifetime of singing. Lessons are all customized to the student’s individual goals. She continues to focus on providing a safe and comfortable place for all students to explore music!
